The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) is a body corporate established on the 1st July 2005, under the Universities Act, Cap. 346 of the Laws of Tanzania with the mandate to recognise, approve, register and accredit Universities operating in Tanzania, and local or foreign University level programmes being offered by registered higher education institutions.

TCU Universities Calender For 2024/2025
The TCU academic calendar for 2024/2025 is divided into two main application windows:
First Application Window:
- Opens: July 15, 2024
- Closes: August 10, 2024
- Submission of Admitted Applicants by HEIs: August 21-26, 2024
- Announcement of Admissions: September 3, 2024
During this window, applicants can submit their applications to universities and colleges. After the window closes, institutions will review the applications and decide who to admit. Admitted applicants will be announced in early September.
Second Application Window:
- Opens: September 3, 2024
- Closes: September 21, 2024
- Submission of Admitted Applicants by HEIs: September 26-30, 2024
- Announcement of Admissions: October 5, 2024
This second window is for applicants who may not have been admitted in the first round or for those who missed the first deadline. The process is similar to the first window, with admissions announced in early October.
Confirmation and Enrollment
- Confirmation Window for First Round Admits: September 3-21, 2024
- Confirmation Window for Second Round Admits: October 5-19, 2024
After receiving admission offers, applicants have a window to confirm their acceptance and secure their place. This is a crucial step, as failure to confirm within the given timeframe may result in the offer being withdrawn.
2024/2025 Hiegher Education Institutions Academic Year Begins:
Earliest Opening Date for HEIs: October 19, 2024
Universities and colleges can open for the new academic year as early as October 19, 2024. However, the actual start date may vary depending on the institution.
Important Note:
Transfer Window for New Students: Opens November 6, 2024
Students who have been admitted have a window to transfer to a different institution if they wish.
The deadline for submitting transfer requests is November 25, 2024.
The TCU requires all higher education institutions to submit their enrollment data for the 2024/2025 academic year by December 31, 2024.
